Η Συμμαχική Στρατιωτική Αποστολή παρέδωσε την Ελλάδα σχετικώς άθικτη τον Οκτώβριο του 1944, ώστε αυτή να δημιουργήσει το μέλλον της διοικούμενη από μία κυβέρνηση αναγνωρισμένη ομόφωνα, με τη βοήθεια των ομόφωνα ευπρόσδεκτων Συμμάχων.
